About me.
Hi. This is Yilin, I design and build end-to-end data systems across Databricks, Power BI, and AI-driven analytics.
Most data systems don’t fail because of technology — they fail because they’re not designed for how people actually use data.
My work focuses on closing that gap: from building bronze-to-gold medallion pipelines, to designing semantic layers, to shipping AI-assisted analytics tools that let non-technical teams ask questions in plain language.
That means thinking deeply about trade-offs between performance, scalability, and usability — not just getting pipelines or dashboards to “work”.
A lot of data content lives at one of two extremes:
overly technical with no business context, or high-level strategy with no grounding in implementation. I’m interested in what sits in between — how systems get built, what breaks in production, and how to make AI analytics work beyond the demo.
I write about building data systems that hold up in the real world — and what it takes to grow in this field while doing it thoughtfully.
If something here resonates, I'd love to connect on LinkedIn.
